  • Week commencing 25th February 2019

    Fri 01 Mar 2019

On Monday 25th February the whole school celebrated Salvation day. Salvation focuses on the part of the Bible where Christians believe Jesus sacrificed himself for the people's sins. Therefore each class explored the Easter story and spent the day carrying out different activities based on it including the Last Supper, Good Friday and the resurrection. Years 1-5 also took part in a fantastic dance workshop with Zoe and Holly from Springs Dance Company where they acted out parts of the Easter story through dance.

Tuesday 26th February was Multicultural Day. Our focus was on Tanzania in line with our charity work and toy sale. We invited John and Fran (who have visited Tanzania) in to speak to each class about Tanzania and the charity work that they do to give the children a great understanding of the culture of the country. The children loved looking at their images and hearing their stories. They even had the chance to learn some Swahili words and phrases. In class, children all carried out various activities including creating fact files, using technology to present information and even making Tanzanian houses!

Thank you to everyone who kindly donated items for our toy sale held this week. We raised a fabulous £315.13 which will be used to purchase footballs to send to the children in Tanzania as well as sponsoring one child to attend primary school for one year – we will share more details soon.  The footballs will be sent in a parcel along with the football shirts you have so generously sent into school, we know the children there will be thrilled to receive them!

On Wednesday 27th February, EYFS and KS1 took part in our half termly Sports Enrichment Days. They practised their street dance skills with Mr Bennett in the morning, showing off their best dance moves (including the teachers!). During the afternoon, each class competed against each other in mini dodgeball games on the playground in the beautiful sunshine.

We welcomed Mr Gareth Hughes from Severn Arts into school on Friday who led a fabulous drumming day for all children to experience. A huge thank you to the PTFA who have funded this wonderful event.
