‘Together we love, learn and grow’

Cookery

At Harvington CE First and Nursery School we believe that cooking is a core life skill, and our aim is to give everyone the opportunity to plan, cook and enjoy delicious and wholesome dishes.

We teach children about food, different ingredients and the importance of health and nutrition. We teach them how to co-operate, share and follow health and hygienic practices. We teach the children skills that prepare them for life.

Children participate in at least one cookery activity each half term and use our specially furnished kitchen area. The planned cooking is often linked with the curriculum theme but may be planned with a different, unique focus. Children are encouraged to try new things through the senses of touch, smell and taste. Dietary requirements are considered when planning and cooking and all children are included..
