    On Monday Miss Mahoney gave a Phonics Presentation to parents of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children. Afterwards parents visited classrooms to see examples of phonic teaching. Thank you to everyone who attended.

     

    On Tuesday we went to the Islamic exhibition in Birmingham to learn about Islam for our RE work.

    We learnt about the messages in the Qur’an and the five pillars of Islam.  We coloured some geometric patterns and wrote our names in Arabic.

    We really enjoyed trying on some different types of clothing and learning lots of new facts.  We had a great day and met some lovely people. By Skye and Maisy-Year 5

     

    Also on Tuesday four Year 3 children, accompanied by Mrs Scott, attended a Gifted and Talented Gymnastics Event at St Andrews First School. The children were involved in learning different gymnastics moves and then the boys and girls performed separate dances to everyone.

     

    Thank you to all parents who attended Parent Consultation Meetings on Monday and Tuesday evening - we hope you found the meetings informative.

     

    Today we welcomed Fran from ComputerXplorers into school. Nursery have had fun programming Bee-Bots, Reception learnt how to create a simple animation, KS1 were involved in creating more advanced animations and KS2 have created lego robotics. Thank you to Miss Willmore for organising this fantastic day and a huge thank you to Harvington PTFA who funded this for the children.

     

     

  • Week commencing 14th November 2016

    Our Year 5 class attended an Indoor Athletics Competition on Tuesday morning at The De Montfort School in Evesham. The children competed against other Year 5/6 children from local schools and took part in track and field events such as speed bounce and relay races. Well done to everyone who took part!

     

    Also on Tuesday, the School Council visited the Teams4U warehouse in Evesham. The children were told about where the shoe boxes would go and helped volunteers check them before they get sent to Romania. The children worked really hard and had a great afternoon.

     

    This week our ECO Warriors hosted a Cluster ECO meeting. We shared what we do as a school and learned what other ECO groups do too. We enjoyed welcoming our visitors and sharing our ideas.

     

    Key Stage 2 have been extremely busy this week making and baking yummy biscuits to sell today to raise money for Children In Need.

     

    All children and staff have participated in Children In Need by coming into school dressed in their pyjamas in exchange for a donation. The money has now been counted and we are pleased to say we have raised a fantastic £320.00! Thank you to everyone who has supported this.

     

     

     

  • Week commencing 7th November 2016

    Parents were requested to book Parents' Evening time slots for either Monday 21st or Tuesday 22nd November. We have had a great response to this booking system.

     

    The Sunshine Group met this this week and were given Sunshine books for their classrooms.

     

    Eco Warriors also met - their useful tip this week was 'Remember to turn your heating down and close doors when the sun shines'.

     

    Reception class have made some amazing stained glass poppies for their classroom windows - please make sure you take a look at them.

     

    During Forest School, Year 1 have been looking at deciduous and evergreen trees.

     

    Year 2 have been creating Learning Logs on Remembrance and World War II this week.

     

    Thank you to everyone who joined us today at the very moving Remembrance Service led by Mr Steve Salter.

     

    Finally, we hope you will join us in congratulating Mrs Fishbourne on reaching 25 years' service at Harvington First School - what a wonderful achievement Mrs Fishbourne, many congratulations!

    Children were welcomed back to school after the half term break.

    Year 4 continue to enjoy learning the violin with Mr Hawcutt. Please remember to send violins into school on Mondays.

    Nasal flu immunisation was offered to children in Years 1, 2 and 3 by the NHS.

    Mr Bob James from Teams4U came to collect the 65 filled shoeboxes for this year's appeal. Thank you to everyone who supported this worthy cause. 

    Our Year 4 girls attended a Netball Match at Bengeworth Academy today and we eargerly await the score!

    We look forward to seeing everyone tonight at the PTFA Firework display on the village playing field. Refreshments can be purchased from the village hall from 6pm with the firework display starting at 6.45pm.
