School Lunches

Dinners are cooked in our purpose-built kitchen and three hot food choices are available each day. There is always a choice of a meat dish, vegetarian or jacket potato.  There is also a choice of sandwiches too. Menus are available so you know what choices there are but children can choose when they see the food themselves. There is also a full salad bar and a choice of desserts. School meals cost £2.50 each. Children in Years R, 1 and 2 are entitled to a free meal as part of the Government's Universal Free School Meals initiative.  Meals are served on a tray, please send a named cup if you are not sending your child a drink, as water is always available.

If you prefer your child to have a packed lunch please encourage the school aim of 'healthy eating' by including a piece of fruit or a raw vegetable. No sweets or chocolate are allowed though a chocolate type biscuit is acceptable. All children having a packed lunch need to have a named cup and plate.  Water is always provided but you may send your own drink if preferred.

Children who eat cooked meals or a packed lunch sit together in family groups with lunchtime leaders taking on the role of 'Mum or Dad' by helping to open tricky containers or packets and encouraging conversation. The children enjoy naming their family group and try hard to gain the ‘star table’ reward each week. The hall is fully supervised by Lunchtime staff.
