Harvington C of E First and Nursery School

‘Together we love, learn and grow’

Week commencing 8th October 2018

Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful visit to Bishops Wood on Tuesday. The children learned about the changing seasons and explored what happens to plants and trees in the autumn.

Mrs Thorp, our Home School Link, held a Homework HELP! workshop on Tuesday afternoon. Thank you to everyone who came - we hope you found it informative.

Wednesday was Mental Health Awareness Day and we shared with children in assembly how important it is to keep 'safe and happy inside'. We set all children a task of trying to talk to someone new to them, someone they wouldn't usually talk to.

Also on Wednesday we welcomed parents/carers of Early Years and KS1 children to join us at our Come Dine with Me Lunch. We would like to thank Class Catering for preparing and cooking the delicious lunch which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Year 4 had an exciting trip to Pizza Express in Stratford on Wednesday. The children learned about foods from Europe and also developed their cooking skills - they all made a pizza to take home with them at the end of the day.

Children from Year 5 became Viking Villagers on Wednesday during their visit to Compton Verney. They explored life as it would have been in a Viking village and took part in plenty of hands on activities.

We welcomed KS2 parents into school on Friday afternoon to find out how we practise our mental maths - it was great to see so many of you.

Year 2 are currently experiencing a fantastic day at Leicester Space Centre where they are exploring planets and carrying out scientific enquiry experiments. They are due back later today and we look to hearing all about their trip.
