Harvington C of E First and Nursery School

‘Together we love, learn and grow’

Autumn term so far

It's been a very busy half term so far!

We welcomed everyone back to school after the summer holiday and also welcomed our Nursery and Reception children who have settled in so well.

We are very proud to announce that we have become a Music Mark School Member for the year 2019/20. This is in recognition of a commitment to providing high quality music education for all children and young people.

We are also pleased to announce that we have been awarded GILT Status for the Primary Science Quality Mark.

After school clubs have, once again, proved popular and include sports clubs, science, debate and handbells - all clubs will run until week ending 22nd November.

Some classes have already taken part in a trip - Year 3 visited Birmingham Museum, Year 2 have been to Leicester Space Centre and Year 5 learnt about Vikings during their trip to Compton Verney.

We held a dress down day for 'Oscar' - thank you to everyone who donated so generously! We raised £424 to help towards Oscar's treatment.

The school had a visit from a Muslim Iman (Priest) who works at HMP Long Lartin. Iman Mufti Mayet gave a brief introduction to Islam, discussed The 5 Pillars of Islam, their dress Code and shared artefacts.

Miss Beaver accompanied our netball team to The De Montfort School for a netball tournament - the team played extremely well and were a credit to our school.

Thank you to those parents/carers who joined Year 1 and Year 2 to 'Share our Phonics' workshop.

The new Family Learning programme 'Dine Well For Less' has started with Mrs Thorp, our Home School Link, and will run until 9th December.
