Harvington C of E First and Nursery School

‘Together we love, learn and grow’

Welcome

Welcome to Harvington C.E First & Nursery School

Headteacher's Welcome.

I am very proud to be Headteacher of this outstanding (Ofsted 2017, 2022 and 2023), welcoming and popular school. We have enthusiastic children, devoted families and very talented staff. Everyone is passionate about education and about helping children love their learning. Visitors to our school talk of the delightful atmosphere, positive attitudes and vision for the children’s progress. It is a place where our children grow to be high achieving, independent, confident and thoughtful individuals and leave us well above national expectations and enjoy a well-planned, sequenced and broad curriculum with a wealth of enrichment opportunities.

Our vision is: 'Together we love, learn and grow' and we follow the teachings from the Bible: Matthew 22:39 ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’. Proverbs 2:2 ‘Turn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding’ and ‘Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord’

The desire to support, nurture and consider others is key to everything we do. We value and celebrate each other’s gifts and talents; we offer friendship and support within our school family and also within the community which we are so proud to be a part of. The vision is to achieve in all areas in our supportive school environment; we all want to be the best we can be. Our six key values are embedded in all that we do in school; we do not need 'school rules' we believe in: Trust, Friendship, Perseverance, Respect, Forgiveness, Truthfulness.

We have a purpose built, vibrant nursery, which offers outstanding care and education for nursery age children. This provision is open from 8.40a.m. until 3p.m. The school operates an ‘Early Birds’ breakfast club from 8a.m. and ‘Wrappers’ after school provision until 6p.m. The outdoor learning environment includes a forest school, den-making area, mound and vegetable beds. We have seven large classrooms, with adjacent practical areas and a large multi-purpose hall. The school has a multi-purpose learning zone with a well-stocked library and internet linked laptops and iPads. We provide excellent sports provision, with inter school competitions, and lessons that develop a wide variety of skills. We offer music lessons in a range of instruments including fife, violin, guitar, recorder and keyboard and the children have opportunities to perform to others. We also teach French throughout the school encouraging the pupils to gain a real thirst for languages.

Our school has excellent links with the community and has a very supportive P.T.F.A. Parents, senior citizens and governors regularly help in school and we also welcome students from local high schools, Worcester University and local colleges.

We pride ourselves on giving our pupils the very best educational opportunities, promoting positive attitudes, equality of opportunity for all and are committed to supporting our pupils to develop the skills to become independent learners and ready for their next steps in education.

We are always very pleased to show prospective parents and children around school. Please contact us to arrange a mutually convenient time to visit.

You will be assured of a very warm welcome into our school family.
